We are excited to offer a FREE Educational Symposium in association with our friends at Palmetto Health USC Orthopedic Center and DHEC during these unprecedented times. 2020 Annual Business Meeting & Educational Opportunity

The 2020 SCATA Annual Business Meeting will be a Members only event. Anyone interested in attending the event must be a registered member of the SCATA. This portion of the meeting will be in a synchronous format. All registrants must be logged in at 4:00 PM ET and for the duration of the program.

DHEC Educational COURSE

Learning Objectives:

  • Participants will explore a variety of theories, protocols and processes for RTL, including the CDC mild TBI Guidelines
  • Participants will learn about the benefits of creating a school-based and school-directed RTL approach 
  • Participants will review how some states (including South Carolina!) have been forward thinkers and early adopters of practical RTL practices. 




2020 Educational Programming

The 2020 SCATA Educational Programming will be open to all NATA and SCATA members at no charge. This portion of the meeting will be in an asynchronous format and must be completed within the provided time frame. All presentations must be viewed and assessments and evaluations completed prior to the conclusion of the event. Individual CEUs will be provided to registrants by September 1, 2020.

ACTIVE SHOOTER IN THE ATHLETIC VENUES

  • Explain how a pre-hospital inter-professional healthcare team works collaboratively to improve patient outcomes.

Learning Objectives:

  • Participants will understand the scope of the youth APEDs epidemic and will know the social pressures that are driving this behavior. 
  • Participants will understand what APEDs are and where they are coming from. 
  • Participants will become acquainted with resources that are available to identify safe dietary supplements. 
  • Participants will become familiar with the reasons why are youth are using APEDs. 
  • Participants will be able to recognize the side effects and risks associated with using APEDs and know how to safely intervene if needed.

Individuals will be required to register for both the Annual Business Meeting and Educational Symposium separately. Both events are FREE to members of the NATA and SCATA; however, only SCATA members can join the Business Meeting. If you are not currently a member of either of those organizations you will need to complete that registration process before registering for the 2020 SCATA Annual Symposium. SCATA MEETING CANCELLATION POLICY

All cancellation requests must be made in writing by email to the SCATA Treasurer (treasurer@scata.org) All cancellations prior to 6 weeks to the first date of the Event will be refunded in full minus 10% for processing/accounting procedures.  Cancellations occurring within 2-6 weeks prior to the first date of the Event will receive 50% refund, minus 10% for processing/accounting procedures.  No refunds will be given for cancellations within 2 weeks of the first date of the Event.


This program has been planned and implemented in accordance with the requirements and policies of the Board of Certification of the Athletic Trainer (BOC) through joint sponsorship of Palmetto Health USC Orthopedic Center and SCATA. Palmetto Health USC Orthopedic Center is approved by the BOC to provide continuing education for athletic trainers.
